KP, Dry Skin, and Glytone Body Therapy - Letrice Eagle, ST

  • Oct 18, 2017

Skin gets dry in the fall and winter due to low humidity, both outside and inside the house.  Exposure to dry wind, hot shower water or drying soaps may further increase the dryness in skin. When skin becomes cold, the blood vessels supplying nourishment and moisture to the skin become constricted. Thus, dry, itchy skin can occur.

Glytone has products to help dry and itchy skin. My recommendation is the Glytone Body Therapy kit.  The Glycolic Acid levels will retexturize, moisturize, and smooth your skin.  Originally designed for people with the bothersome skin condition of keratosis pilaris, Glytone Body Therapy provides improved skin for anyone that wants a smoother texture.

What is Keratosis Pilaris?

Keratosis pilaris is a common skin condition characterized by tiny hard bumps along the outer arms, thighs, and buttocks.  These bumps form when the protective protein, keratin, builds up inside the hair follicle.  This build up does not allow skin cells to shed properly and results in red, bumpy skin.

How does the Body Therapy Kit treat KP?

The main treatment for KP is to exfoliate the skin.  The glycolic acid acts as an exfoliating agent by breaking down the dead skin cells that clog the top of the hair follicles.  Dead cells are exfoliated away, resulting in unclogged pores so the hair can now grow freely and the bumps go away.

How does the Body Therapy Kit help dry skin?

If your skin is dry from the seasonal change or if seems dry most of the time, the Body Therapy Kit works to improve the texture of your skin.  The same principle applies to rough, dry skin as to KP.  The glycolic acid works to exfoliate the top dead layer of dry skin and smooth away rough skin and scaly plaques.  This reveals softer, smoother, glowing skin.

What is in the Kit?

  • Exfoliating Body Wash with a rich lather
  • Exfoliating Body Lotion that moisturizes after the wash
