Spring Into Beautiful Skin With These 3 Tips

  • Mar 21, 2017

It's that time of year again. Time to transition from winter to spring with your skin. The cold winter temperatures can take a toll on your face making it dry and flakey. Cold air, wind, freezing snow and indoor heat are only a few of the reasons your skin suffers in the winter. Skin conditions such as eczema and  psoriasis can become aggravated in the winter.

As winter gets further and further behind us, it becomes necessary to go through a bit of a change in our daily beauty routing and get ready for that fresh, clean, soft glowing spring look.

Here are three tips to help you make the transition and get your warm glow for the warmer months.

1. Moisturizer: Don't skip this process. Daily moisturizing is vital for healthy skin. After some very drying weather, It is important to renew our skin and replenish the moisture that was lost. How can you moisturize? Use quality products  Quality skin care products keep the skin hydrated. Some recommendations are the following products: Obagi Hydrate, Avene Hydrance Serum, or hydrators such as SkinMedica HA5, or SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier.

In this study from the British Journal of Dermatology, those who used moisturizer were found to develop wrinkles at a fraction of the rate of those with dry skin.

2. Cleanse: Keeping your skin clean is very important. A common benefit of facial cleansing is the removal of dirt, oil, and other unwanted debris. Throughout the day the skin on your face is continually covered with bacteria, pollutants, viruses, dirt, and old (dead) skin cells. Daily facial washing removes these impurities to give the skin a fresh look. Cleansing should ideally happen twice a day (morning and night). Using a quality product for cleansing will help to ensure your skin won’t be irritated. Exfoliating works to help rid your skin of any dry, rough layers left over from the winter. Exfoliating should really only happen once or twice a week.

3. Suncare: RememberThe SPF: SPF is a must-have year-round, but now that the weather is warmer, we’ll all likely be outside more. During warmer weather, there should be more of an emphasis on sunscreen. Sunscreen is something we need to wear everyday. We want to wear it to try to prevent skin cancer, but also to maintain as youthful an appearance as possible. Remember, even on those overcast days, your skin can be damaged. If you want to fight the good fight against sun damage, sun care has to be a part of your daily routine.

There are so many sun protection products on the market. It is important not to get just any product because this will be absorbed into your skin. Make sure you select a quality sunscreen so that the skin on your face does not break out. Here are a few suggestions for quality sun care products: Colorescience Sunforgettable SPF 50 Brushes, EltaMD Sunscreens, and SkinMedica Total Defense & Repair SPF 34.
